Guardians optioned RHP
The Guardians were forced to recall Touki Toussaint on Friday to start for the injured Triston McKenzie, and unfortunately Morris was a roster casualty in the process. Morris hasn’t allowed a run while posting a 1.00 ERA and 3/0 K/BB ratio over two innings with the big league club this season.

The Padres had high hopes for the 23-year-old hurler this season, but he has stumbled to a 6.08 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 27/15 K/BB ratio over 40 innings. He’ll work to refine his craft at the Triple-A level.

Padres placed LHP Tom C
The severity of the hamstring strain – and how much time Cosgrove stands to miss – remain up in the air. Cosgrove has been an integral cog in the Padres’ bullpen this season – registering a stellar 0.53 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and a 15/2 K/BB ratio over his 17 innings of work. Nabil Crismatt was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move on Friday.

Dodgers recalled OF Mic
With Max Muncy (hamstring) landing on the injured list, Busch will get another chance to show what he can do at the big league level. The 25-year-old has hit .211/.348/.211 with zero homers, two RBI and a stolen base in 23 plate appearances with the Dodgers this season.

The 26-year-old hurler has really struggled through seven appearances (six starts) for the Dodgers this season – compiling an 8.10 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 30/9 K/BB ratio over 30 innings. He’ll attempt to right the ship at the Triple-A level before returning to help the big league club later in the season.

Kevin Smith was scratch
Athletics’ skipper Mark Kotsay called his removal from the lineup a precautionary measure, and Smith should be considered day-to-day. Jonah Bride will start at third base for the A’s on Friday night while Aledmys Diaz covers shortstop against Taijuan Walker and the Phillies.

Cole Irvin surrendered three runs in four innings Friday in a loss to the Cubs.
All of the runs came on solo homers in the third inning. Irvin stayed in to pitch one more inning afterwards and then was lifted after 68 pitches. He has a 7.66 ERA in five starts and one relief appearance for the Orioles.
Adam Frazier went 0-for-4 against the Cubs in the Orioles' loss Friday.
Frazier is still hitting homers of occasion, but he's batting .178 with just two walks in 76 plate appearances over his last 19 games, dropping his OBP from .335 to .292. He might face more competition for playing time if the Orioles promote Jordan Westburg or decide to give Joey Ortiz a real chance in the coming weeks.
Trey Mancini doubled twice and walked twice against the Orioles on Friday.
Mancini was making his first start in six days. With Matt Mervis down, there should be an opportunity for Mancini to go back to playing regularly if he can get hot. It's going to take more than one nice game, though. He's hitting .246/.317/.363 in 201 plate appearances.
Patrick Wisdom struck out in both of his at-bats before being lifted for a pinch-hitter Friday against the Orioles.
Wisdom isn't even hitting lefties any longer. For a time the NL home run leader back in April, he's all of the way down to .196/.285/.467 for the season now. He has 47 strikeouts and 13 hits (with four homers) in 106 plate appearances since the beginning of May.
Athletics placed LHP Richard Lovelady on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow strain.
Lovelady sustained the injury during Thursday's relief appearance against the Rays. There's no word yet on exactly how long he'll be shelved for. Chad Smith was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move on Friday.
Athletics recalled RHP Chad Smith from Triple-A Las Vegas.
He's taking the place of the injured Richard Lovelady (elbow) in the A's bullpen. The 28-year-old hurler has already appeared in eight games for the Athletics this season -- registering a 6.30 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 6/5 K/BB ratio over 10 innings.
Nationals activated OF Victor Robles from the 10-day injured list.
The 26-year-old outfielder had been sidelined since early May due to back spasms. He was terrific on a recent minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester though -- slashing .364/.500/1.000 with two homers and five RBI in 14 plate appearances. Robles will start in center field and bat eighth for the Nationals against Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins on Friday evening.
Blue Jays activated RHP Adam Cimber from the paternity leave list.
Cimber had been away from the club since Tuesday. The 32-year-old returns to a 6.75 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and an 11/7 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings in his 20 appearances with the Jays this season. Thomas Hatch was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move on Friday.
Blue Jays optioned RHP Thomas Hatch to Triple-A Buffalo.
With Adam Cimber returning from paternity leave on Friday night, the Jays needed to clear a spot in their bullpen and it looks like it was Hatch who pulled the short straw this time around. The 28-year-old has yet to allow a run while posting a 1.64 WHIP and 8/3 K/BB ratio over 3 2/3 innings with the big league club this season. He'll get another opportunity before the summer is through.
Blue Jays recalled 1B Spencer Horwitz from Triple-A Buffalo.
The move is now official. With Brandon Belt on the injured list, Horwitz will provide the Blue Jays with depth at first base and a left-handed bat off of the bench. The 25-year-old has hit .300/.421/.405 with just two homers, 34 RBI and an outstanding 46/42 K/BB ratio over 259 plate appearances at Triple-A Buffalo this season.
Blue Jays optioned OF Nathan Lukes to Triple-A Buffalo.
The 28-year-old has been primarily a defensive replacement and pinch runner for the Blue Jays this season, as he has logged just 23 plate appearances while appearing in 23 games for the Blue Jays. During that time, he hit just .158/.261/.263 with a 7/3 K/BB ratio. Spencer Horwitz was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move on Friday.
Miguel Cabrera is not in the Tigers' starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Twins.
Normally it wouldn't be noteworthy to see the 40-year-old stationed on the bench for the Tigers, but Cabrera has actually been swinging a hot bat as of late -- going 12-for-30 (.400) with a homer and four RBI over his last nine games. Kerry Carpenter will function as the Tigers' designated hitter on Friday night and bat third against Joe Ryan and the Twins in Minnesota.
