Angels released OF Ryan Aguilar.
Aguilar made it into seven contests last season for the Angels, but has been cut loose after batting .169/.313/.231 with one homer and two steals across 22 games this season for Double-A Rocket City. The 28-year-old outfielder is merely organizational depth, if he winds up finding another opportunity somewhere else.
Cubs re-signed RHP Tyler Duffey to a minor league contract.
Duffy opted out of his minor league contract with the Cubs earlier this month, but the two sides have agreed to re-unite on a brand new pact. The 32-year-old veteran reliever has made 295 appearances in the majors dating back to 2015. He provides Chicago with some extra organizational depth.
Israel Pineda is dealing with a left oblique strain.
Pineda suffered the injury earlier this month during his minor league rehab assignment while working his way back from a right finger displacement that's kept him out since spring training.
Eguy Rosario (ankle) started a minor league rehab assignment earlier this month with Triple-A El Paso.
Rosario kicked off a rehab assignment earlier this month as he continues to work his way back from a fractured left ankle that he suffered during offseason Dominican Winter Ball action.
Joely RodrÃguez (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Worcester.
RodrÃguez landed on the injured list for the second time this season back on June 4 due to left shoulder inflammation . The 31-year-old southpaw figures to rejoin Boston's bullpen mix sometime later this week, barring any setbacks.
Yu Chang remains sidelined due to continued discomfort in his surgically-repaired left wrist that cropped up during his recent minor league rehab assignment.
There was optimism that he would be ready to get back into minor league games this week, but that hasn't happened yet. It's unclear when he'll be an option for the Red Sox at this juncture.
Richard Bleier (shoulder) has resumed flat-ground throwing.
Bleier remains without a timetable to return after landing on the injured list last month with left shoulder inflammation. Given how long it'll take to build him back up completely, he's unlikely to return until after next month's All-Star break.
John Schreiber (shoulder) has yet to throw off a mound.
Schreiber continues building up his throwing progression with flat-ground sessions as he continues to work his way back from a right shoulder teres major strain. He's unlikely to return until the late stages of the regular season.
Zach Pop (hamstring) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab appearance on Wednesday for Triple-A Buffalo.
The Blue Jays could certainly use some help in their bullpen at the moment, so it sounds like Pop could be activated rather quickly. He's been out since early May due to a right hamstring strain.
Tanner Houck (face) is scheduled for a follow-up visit with a doctor on Tuesday to determine whether he'll require surgery.
Houck suffered a facial fracture when he was struck by a line drive during last Friday's start against the Yankees. There should be a clearer timetable for his potential return following Tuesday's exam.
Casey Schmitt (forearm) walked and grounded out on Monday during the Giants' extra-inning win over the Padres.
Schmitt wound up receiving a pair of plate appearances off the bench after entering Monday's extra-inning marathon against the Padres as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning. The 24-year-old rookie infielder was held out of the Giants' lineup with a left forearm contusion after being hit by a pitch during Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers. He should be ready to return in a few days, if not sooner.
Dodgers optioned LHP Bryan Hudson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Hudson has been shipped back to the minors ahead of Tuesday's Freeway Series opener against the Angels. The 26-year-old left-hander allowed three runs over two innings last week in his lone appearance for the Dodgers. He should get another look in the majors at some point this summer.
Will Smith tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the White Sox to record his 13th save of the season.
Smith got the call to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and managed to work around a leadoff walk to Clint Frazier and a single by ensuing batter Elvis Andrus for his second save in the last three days.
Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-4 on Monday in his return to the Nationals' lineup.
Candelario tallied a pair of singles in his return to the heart of Washington's lineup following a one-game absence due to a bone bruise in his right thumb. It doesn't seem like he's going to wind up missing any additional time, but will likely have to manage the issue for the immediate future.
Stuart Fairchild went 1-for-2 on Monday in his return to the Reds' lineup.
Fairchild was back in Cincinnati's lineup following a three-game absence due to neck tightness. He'll continue to function in a reserve outfielder role for the Reds moving forward.
J.D. Davis (ankle) walked and struck out in a pair of plate appearances off the bench on Monday during the Giants' extra-inning win over the Padres.
Davis was held out of San Francisco's lineup for the fifth consecutive contest due to a right ankle sprain, but was once again able to come off the bench. He entered the contest as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning and wound up playing the remainder of the game at third base defensively. There's a chance he's ready to return full-time at some point this week, but will likely continue to be limited to pinch-hitting for a few additional days.
Yasmani Grandal went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts versus the Rangers on Monday.
Where are the walks? Grandal had an 11-game streak with zero walks last month, and now he has a 12-gamer going at the moment. Both rate as his longest such streaks since the first half of 2018, when he went 15 games in a row without a walk. Grandal's average is up, so he hasn't been dreadful offensively. Still, .253/.319/.394 with a total of 15 runs and 18 RBI in 59 games is pretty unimpressive.
Tanner Banks gave up three runs in 3 2/3 innings Monday against the Rangers in his first big-league start.
Banks threw 63 pitches on just two days' rest after throwing 46 pitches in relief on Friday, but it's not like the White Sox are going to be especially protective of a 31-year-old sophomore. Banks has given up eight runs in 15 1/3 innings in the majors this year.
Andrew Heaney won for the first time this month after allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings Monday against the White Sox.
Heaney came into this one having walked 10 batters in 11 2/3 innings over three starts in June, so it's nice that he finished with a 6/0 K/BB ratio tonight. Of course, facing the White Sox helped there. Heaney moved to 6-2 with a 3.98 ERA in advance of his next start in Yankee Stadium. He's given up 14 homers in just 38 1/3 innings both for and against the Yankees in the Bronx in his career.
Josh Jung went 3-for-5 with a homer as the Rangers bested the White Sox 5-2 on Monday.
Jung's numbers sagged a bit over the first half of the month, but he still hasn't had any real slumps this season. The homer tonight was his second in three games, and he's batting .284/.339/.509 in 295 plate appearances.
