Francisco Lindor had a three-run homer and a two-run double Monday against the Mets.

Jun 20   1:42 AM

Lindor's homer had an xBA of .080 and his double came in at .020, but he hit them to the right spots and doubled his June RBI total in the process. He's now batting .189/.302/.472 this month.

David Villar clubbed his fifth home run of the season as the Giants rallied to beat the Padres in extra innings on Monday night.

Jun 20   1:21 AM

Villar tagged Padres' starter Michael Wacha for his 379-foot solo shot to get the Giants on the board in the fifth inning. He also walked in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-3. He has been pretty brutal overall at the plate this season -- slashing a grotesque .154/.239/.346 to go with five long balls and 12 RBI.

Michael Wacha posted a quality start in a tough-luck no-decision against the Giants on Monday night -- allowing two runs on on four hits over his four innings of work.

Jun 20   12:55 AM

The right-hander issued two walks on the evening and did not record a strikeout. The only scoring done against him came via the long ball -- with David Villar swatting a solo homer in the fifth inning and Mike Yastrzemski adding another in the sixth. Wacha got just three whiffs on 93 pitches in the contest -- all of them on his changeup -- while posting a comically-low CSW of 18 percent. He'll bring a 2.90 ERA and 1.05 WHIP into Saturday's battle against the Nationals.

Ha-Seong Kim went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs on Monday night, in an extra-inning loss to the Giants in San Francisco.

Jun 20   12:55 AM

Kim reached on an infield single with two outs in the second inning and swiped second base, but the Padres were unable to cash him in. He then delivered a two-run single off of Jakob Junis in the fourth inning that extended the Padres' lead to 3-0. With his three-hit effort, Kim is now hitting .255/.344/.377 with five homers, 22 RBI and 12 stolen bases on the season.

Alek Thomas went 2-for-4 and slugged a two-run homer on Monday night as the Diamondbacks hammered the Brewers.

Jun 19   11:58 PM

Thomas crushed a 412-foot (104.6 mph EV) two-run shot off of Corbin Burnes to cap off the Diamondbacks' six-run uprising in the opening inning. He also singled in the fourth inning and scored on an RBI ground out off the bat of Ketel Marte. With the two-hit attack, the 23-year-old outfielder is now hitting .205/.260/.359 with three homers and 12 RBI on the season.

Geraldo Perdomo went 2-for-3, walked twice and scored a run in a lopsided victory over the Brewers on Monday evening in Milwaukee.

Jun 19   11:58 PM

Perdomo got things started with a leadoff double off of Corbin Burnes, then scored the game's first run on an RBI single off the bat of Christian Walker. The 23-year-old shortstop is having a very nice season for the Diamondbacks, slashing .300/.406/.476 with five homers, 30 RBI and seven stolen bases across 206 plate appearances.

Corbin Carroll went 1-for-4 and blasted his 16th home run of the season on Monday night as the Diamondbacks routed the Brewers 9-1 in Milwaukee.

Jun 19   11:58 PM

The 22-year-old rookie sensation walked and scored on a two-run single by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. as part of the Diamondbacks' six-run onslaught in the opening inning. He then capped off the scoring in the contest with his 380-foot solo shot off of Adrian Houser in the ninth inning. Carroll has been outstanding this season -- slashing a robust .304/.386/.596 with 16 homers, 39 RBI and 19 stolen bases.

Corbin Burnes was obliterated in Monday's loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up seven runs on eight hits over his five innings of work.

Jun 19   11:42 PM

The right-hander walked two and struck out three on the night. Nearly all of the damage done against him came in the opening inning, as the Diamondbacks utilized five hits and a walk to push six runs across -- including a two-run homer by Alek Thomas. After that Burnes, settled in nicely over the next four frames, but the damage had obviously already been done. He got just six swings and misses on 86 pitches in the contest, registering an underwhelming CSW of only 20 percent. He'll look to right the ship as he brings a 3.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 86/31 K/BB ratio into Sunday's matchup against the Guardians in Cleveland.

Christian Yelich went 1-for-3 and smacked an RBI triple as the Brewers were clobbered by the Diamondbacks on Monday evening in Milwaukee.

Jun 19   11:42 PM

Yelich got the Brewers on the board with his RBI three-bagger off of Merrill Kelly in the third inning. That would wind up being their only tally in the contest. It was the first triple of the season for Yelich who is now hitting .272/.366/.441 with nine homers, 31 RBI and 16 stolen bases on the season.

Merrill Kelly picked up his ninth victory of the season on Monday night, limiting the Brewers to just one run on three hits over seven strong innings of work.

Jun 19   11:42 PM

The right-hander punched out seven batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came on an RBI triple by Christian Yelich in the third inning , otherwise Kelly was completely dominant. He generated 13 swinging strikes on 88 pitches in the ballgame -- six on his fastball -- while posting a CSW of 33 percent. He'll carry a terrific 2.90 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 96/35 K/BB (90 innings) into Saturday's start against the Giants in San Francisco.

Christian Vázquez finally hit his first homer Monday to supply all three Twins runs against the Red Sox.

Jun 19   10:54 PM

Facing his former club inspired Vázquez tonight. Given the team's situation behind the plate, many thought the Red Sox should have tried to arrange a reunion with the Vázquez as a free agent last winter, but they never showed any interest. It looks like the right call now, as Connor Wong and Reese McGuire have been fine and Vázquez has come in at just .224/.299/.286 in 164 plate appearances.

Pablo López dropped to 3-4 after giving up five runs -- four earned -- in 5 2/3 innings Monday against the Red Sox.

Jun 19   10:54 PM

López struck out nine and had just two hard-hit balls produce hits. He made his own trouble by walking three batters and hitting another, but he was better than the line suggests. Unfortunately, it's getting to be a long line of starts for him in which he's failed to pitch up to his potential. He had a 1.73 ERA after four turns for the Twins, but he's come in at 5.40 since, even though he has a 77/21 K/BB ratio in 64 innings during the span. He'll face the Tigers next.

James Paxton yielded three runs in 6 1/3 innings and struck out seven in a win Monday.

Jun 19   10:54 PM

This could have been a sterling outing for Paxton, but Christian Vázquez hit a three-run homer off him with two outs in the fifth. Even so, Paxton improved to 3-1 with a 3.29 ERA in seven starts. He's struck out 51 and walked just 11 in 38 1/3 innings.

Jarren Duran doubled three times and drove in two runs Monday before being removed for a pinch-hitter against the Twins.

Jun 19   10:54 PM

The oddity was that Duran broke three bats in the process of getting his three doubles. In spite of the nice showing, the Red Sox still opted to have Rob Refsnyder replace him when the Twins brought in a lefty. Duran is hitting .300/.360/.467, but his playing time is in question with Adam Duvall back, especially now that Triston Casas is warming up. The Red Sox were looking at giving Justin Turner more starts at first and Masataka Yoshida more time at DH in order to keep Duran in the lineup, but now that Casas seems to be turning things around, that idea is on hold.

Alex Verdugo knocked in four runs with a triple and a single Monday as Boston topped Minnesota 9-3.

Jun 19   10:54 PM

Verdugo has five multi-hit games in a row as part of a 10-game hitting streak. He's still not big with the home run ball, but the .303 average, 49 runs scored and 31 RBI in 69 games are all nice.

The Angels plan to select the contract of Kevin Padlo from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Jun 19   10:54 PM

He’ll help to add depth in the infield for the Angels with Anthony Rendon heading to the injured list. The 26-year-old has slashed .273/.396/.555 through 34 games at Triple-A Salt Lake this season.

Tyler Stephenson went 0-for-4 as the Reds' catcher against the Rockies on Monday.

Jun 19   10:34 PM

It'll be interesting to see how much DH time Stephenson gets going forward now that Joey Votto is back. Prior to Sunday, he'd never hit lower than sixth this season. He hit seventh then and he hit eighth tonight, which shows the Reds' lowering expectations. With his .245/.323/.358 line, it just doesn't seem like he belongs in the lineup at first or DH when he's not catching.

Elias Díaz went 2-for-5 and homered against the Reds on Monday.

Jun 19   10:34 PM

There's a reason Díaz has been batting cleanup for Colorado, even if he has cooled off considerably lately. He came into tonight batting .193/.246/.333 in June, but at .810, he still has the team's second or third best OPS, depending on whether one wants to count Nolan Jones' .955 mark in 23 games.

Alexis Díaz was back on the mound Monday and pitched a scoreless ninth for his 19th save against the Rockies.

Jun 19   10:34 PM

The Reds said Díaz was available Sunday, but they declined to use him with a lead in either the ninth or 10th innings. Fortunately, he was back out there tonight, though he wasn't particularly sharp in giving up a pair of hits and generating three whiffs in 21 pitches. He did enough, however, to remain perfect in save chances this year.

Brandon Williamson allowed three runs over five innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Rockies.

Jun 19   10:34 PM

Williamson continues to keep the Reds in games, which is a feat for someone who had a 6.62 ERA in eight Triple-A starts this season. He's at 5.40 through seven turns in the majors, but the Reds have won six of his seven outings anyway.
