Tylor Megill was charged with five runs (four earned) over 2 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Astros.
Megill gave up a pair of runs in the opening frame, but was handed a lead after the Mets' offense rallied. He wasn't able to hang on as he struggled with his control, handing out four free passes, and only notched two strikeouts. The 27-year-old righty is lined up to face the Brewers on Tuesday in a home matchup.
Cristian Javier was charged with four runs over 2 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mets.
Javier was long gone from Wednesday's back-and-forth slugfest before things went off the rails. He issued a season-high five free passes, hit one batter, and was lifted after throwing 82 pitches (45 strikes). The 26-year-old fantasy ace will carry a solid 3.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 77/24 K/BB ratio across 83 innings (15 starts) into a road tilt on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Ryan Pressly fired a perfect ninth inning on Thursday against the Mets to record his 14th save of the season.
Pressly got the call to protect a two-run advantage in the ninth inning and wound up requiring just 14 pitches (nine strikes) to preserve the win. He got Daniel Vogelbach to ground out before fanning Brett Baty and pinch-hitter Francisco Álvarez to end the contest
Daniel Vogelbach went 3-for-5 with three RBI on Wednesday in the Mets' loss to the Astros.
Vogelbach recorded his second straight multi-hit effort in this one. He scalded an RBI double in the third inning and also added a game-tying two-run single in the ensuing frame.
Yainer Diaz clobbered a two-run homer on Wednesday in the Astros' win over the Mets.
Diaz blasted a two-run shot to left-center field off veteran righty reliever Dominic Leone in the fourth inning to pad Houston's early lead. It was his seventh round-tripper of the season. He possesses enough raw power to make an impact for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues, but only if he can carve out a semi-permanent role over the next few months.
Alex Bregman went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday, leading the Astros to a 10-8 win over the Mets.
Bregman tallied three hits to lead the Astros past the Mets in a three hour, 32-minute marathon at Minute Maid Park. He hit an RBI single in the opening frame and added another in the fourth inning to put Houston ahead for good. He's recorded hits in four consecutive games and has eight hits in 17 at-bats during that span.
Rangers released C Sandy León.
León has been granted his release to pursue an opportunity somewhere else. The 34-year-old journeyman backstop went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week. He got into 21 games this season for the Rangers.
Chris Taylor (knee) remains absent from the Dodgers' lineup for Wednesday's series final against the Angels.
Taylor will sit out his fourth straight game on Wednesday evening as he continues to recover from a right knee issue that required a cortisone injection earlier this week. It sounds like there's a chance he'll be ready to return in a few days.
Brusdar Graterol will serve as the Dodgers' opener on Wednesday against the Angels.
Graterol will face the top of the Angels' lineup to kick off Wednesday's Freeway Series finale before handing the ball to Michael Grove for a bulk relief appearance.
Daniel Bard took his first loss after giving up a two-run homer in the eighth Wednesday against the Reds.
Bard went on to give up a single and two walks after the homer, but he was able to escape the bases-loaded jam. Bard had allowed just two runs in 22 2/3 innings coming into this one, even though he was sporting a 21/19 K/BB ratio. In spite of the sterling ERA, he hasn't looked like someone who should be in line for save chances.
Buck Farmer worked a scoreless ninth versus the Rockies on Wednesday for his second save.
Alexis Díaz had this one off after pitching the last two days. Farmer often pitches in front of Lucas Sims, but he got the call in the ninth today after Sims worked a perfect seventh. He has a 2.48 ERA in 36 1/3 innings.
Andrew Abbott fanned 10 while allowing three runs -- all on solo homers -- Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Rockies.
It figured that the home run would begin to sting Abbott at some point, but he certainly minimized the damage done by the long ball today, as he allowed just one other hit and walked none in his six innings. The 10 strikeouts nearly matched his total of 12 from his scoreless first three starts combined. He'll make his next start in Baltimore, which is a very good ballpark for a left-handed flyball pitcher.
Jake Fraley went 2-for-4 and hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth as the Reds topped the Rockies 5-3 on Wednesday.
Fraley's 359-foot homer would have left seven ballparks, according to Statcast, but it was deep enough in Cincinnati. It was his fourth in his last eight games and ninth in 212 plate appearances overall.
Red Sox placed RHP Corey Kluber on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
Kluber lands on the injured list after serving up four runs on five hits, including three home runs, over three innings on Tuesday in mop-up duty against the Twins. The 37-year-old veteran right-hander was demoted to the bullpen a few weeks ago and has been consistently lit up in relief outings. There's a chance his time in Boston is coming to an end in the near future.
Josh Walker was removed from Wednesday's relief appearance against the Astros after being hit by a comebacker on the left leg.
Walker might wind up being placed on the injured list to enable the Mets to bring up another reliever later this week.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Brandon Walter will make his major league debut on Thursday against the Twins.
Cora declined to specify whether Walter will be utilized as a traditional starter or bulk reliever, but he'll be officially recalled from Triple-A Worcester to take the ball at some point on Thursday afternoon. The 26-year-old lefty isn't a recommended option for fantasy managers.
Andrew McCutchen (elbow) remained absent from the Pirates' lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Cubs.
It remains to be seen whether he'll return for Thursday's series opener against the Marlins after sitting out two consecutive games due to some lingering right elbow soreness.
Bryan Reynolds (back) remained absent from the Pirates' lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Cubs.
Reynolds remains day-to-day with lower back tightness and might be ready to return to Pittsburgh's lineup for Thursday's series opener against the Marlins down in Miami.
Christian Bethancourt went 0-for-4 and struck out three times versus the Orioles on Wednesday.
Betancourt is 7-for-48 with no extra-base hits and a 15/1 K/BB ratio in his last 13 games. Francisco Mejía, meanwhile, has a 1.023 OPS this month. Those two have mostly alternated games in recent weeks, but perhaps Mejía will gain at-bats if this continues.
Gunnar Henderson went 2-for-5 and hit his 11th homer against the Rays on Wednesday.
Henderson has to be pretty close to locking down AL Rookie of the Month honors for June. He's batting .347/.373/.694 with five homers and 12 RBI this month.
