LaMonte Wade Jr. (side) remains absent from the Giants' lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.
There was some hope that Wade Jr. would be ready to go for this contest, but he's going to get at least another day off to recovery from some lingering right side tightness. He should still be considered day-to-day for now.
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports the Mets are bringing up Vinny Nittoli from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
Nittoli was acquired from the Cubs earlier this month via trade and will give the Mets some extra bullpen depth heading into Friday's series opener against the Phillies.
Will Brennan (shoulder) was held out of the Guardians' lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Athletics.
No surprise here after Brennan was removed from Wednesday's game with left shoulder soreness following a phenomenal leaping catch in right field. He should be considered day-to-day for the moment.
Twins optioned RHP Oliver Ortega to Triple-A St. Paul.
Ortega, who has made only one relief appearance since being called up earlier this week from Triple-A St. Paul, has been sent back to the minors to free up a roster spot for Kenta Maeda to return from the injured list ahead of Friday's series opener against the Tigers.
Riley Adams went 3-for-4 and hit a two-run homer against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
No one could blame Adams if he was a little peeved today that Keibert Ruiz got a start at DH. Adams came into the day with an .864 OPS, but he's never gotten a start at DH this season. Meanwhile, Ruiz, who had a .670 OPS, gets penciled in there despite catching over Adams about 80% of the time. Of course, Ruiz is a part of the Nationals' foundation in a way Adams isn't. Still, Adams is just 26 and has hit well in limited action; it might not hurt to give him a look at DH or at first base, where he worked out last season, once or twice a week.
Jake Irvin allowed two runs -- one earned -- over six innings Thursday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Irvin matched his high with six strikeouts and got his second quality start in nine tries, but he lost a fourth straight decision anyway. He's at least given himself a little bit of job security with two solid efforts in a row; he allowed one run in five innings against the Marlins five days ago.
Despite pitching two innings on Wednesday, Scott McGough picked up another save on Thursday, getting the final two outs against the Nationals.
The Diamondbacks wanted Joe Mantiply to protect a four-run lead in the ninth today, but he was pulled after giving up a two-run homer to Riley Adams. That gave McGough another chance, and he notched his third save in a week. He should be grabbed in any leagues in which he remains available. However, one can expect someone else to get the save on Friday if a chance arises, probably either Andrew Chafin or Miguel Castro.
Tommy Henry held the Nationals to one run in 6 2/3 innings for a win Thursday.
No one was interested in Henry when he was competing with Ryne Nelson and Drey Jameson for the fifth spot in Arizona's rotation this season. He lost out then and opened up in the minors, but he's essentially the Diamondbacks' third starter now, having gone 4-1 with a 4.31 ERA in 11 starts and one relief appearance. There still isn't much fantasy upside here, but he's one of the reasons the Diamondbacks have opened 46-30.
Ketel Marte hit a three-run homer in the seventh to help the Diamondbacks top the Nationals 5-3 on Thursday.
Marte had a .754 OPS in April, an .865 in May and now a 1.027 OPS thus far in June. The homer today was his 12th in 70 games, matching his total from 137 games last year.
Yankees recalled INF/OF Oswaldo Cabrera from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cabrera will replace the injured Willie Calhoun (quad) on the active roster. The 24-year-old has hit just 190/.238/.298 with four homers, 18 RBI and a 37/10 K/BB ratio in 182 plate appearances with the Yankees this season. He's not an option in mixed fantasy leagues.
The Astros are expected to call up outfielder Bligh Madris on Friday, reports Chandler Rome of The Athletic.
The Astros will have to make a roster move in order to add him to the 40-man roster. Madris, 27, was actually outrighted by the Astros back in April after passing through waivers unclaimed. He's slashing .249/.363/.446 with 10 home runs and 10 steals over 60 games in Triple-A this season.
Mason Miller (elbow) is still limited to throwing off flat ground.
Miller was diagnosed with a mild UCL strain in his elbow a little over a month and hasn't been cleared for mound work. It's unclear when that might happen or how his elbow will respond when he does. Still, he's trying the rest and rehab route for now.
Brandon Walter allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings Thursday against the Twins in his major league debut.
Serving as a bulk guy, Walter took over in the second after Justin Garza allowed three runs. It meant that Walter avoided taking the loss in a game in which the Red Sox were shut out. After a shaky beginning, Walter fared pretty well, though he wound up with just two strikeouts. He could be sent back down to Triple-A now in exchange for a fresh arm.
DJ LeMahieu will bat leadoff Thursday against the Mariners.
Jake Bauers has been the primary leadoff hitter of late, but he'll take a seat Thursday with Billy McKinney playing left field. LeMahieu is hitting .171 (6-for-35) in the month of June.
Giancarlo Stanton will start in right field Thursday against the Mariners.
It's actually his first start in right field since coming off the injured list. Stanton got the day off on Wednesday, but he's back in there Thursday as the Yankees attempt to complete a sweep. The veteran slugger is 4-for-45 (.111) with two homers and 17 strikeouts this month. The Yankees could sure use a turnaround.
Pablo Reyes exited Thursday's game against the Twins with an apparent injury.
He was hitless in his first at-bat before being replaced by Enrique Hernández at second base in the fourth inning. Reyes dealt with some abdominal soreness a couple of days ago, but the Red Sox should pass along more information soon.
Maikel Garcia will bat leadoff Thursday against the Rays.
Garcia has mostly batted fifth or sixth so far, but he'll slide up to the top of the order against southpaw Shane McClanahan. Nick Pratto is on the bench and Matt Duffy will start at first base and bat sixth.
Red Sox transferred RHP John Schreiber to the 60-day injured list.
The move clears a spot for the newly-acquired Tayler Scott on the 40-man roster. Schreiber went down in mid-May with a right shoulder teres major strain and is still a ways off from returning.
Mike Yastrzemski said Thursday that an MRI on his left hamstring only showed inflammation.
It's good news under the circumstances. Yastrzemski suffered the injury while running from first to third on a single in the fifth inning on Wednesday. As of now, it looks like a potential day-to-day situation, but we should know more soon.
Reds sent RHP Kevin Herget outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Herget was designated for assignment this week with Joey Votto returning from the injured list. The 32-year-old has agreed to report to Triple-A and provide some upper-level pitching depth for now.
