Brewers activated RHP Matt Bush from the 15-day injured list.

Jun 23   12:46 PM

Bush, out since late April with right shoulder tendinitis, allowed just an unearned run with eight strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings during a rehab assignment in Triple-A. The 37-year-old scuffled prior to going on the IL, but could find himself in the late-inning mix before long.

Matt Manning (foot) threw four scoreless innings Friday in a rehab start with Triple-A Toledo.

Jun 23   9:59 AM

Manning threw 73 pitches while allowing just one hit and striking out six. While that's good, the 25-year-old also walked five batters. Still, he's stretched out enough that the Tigers could possibly be ready to activate him next week. Manning has been out since early April due to a fractured right foot.

Brewers prospect outfielder Sal Frelick exited a game for Triple-A Nashville on Thursday after fouling a ball off his right knee.

Jun 23   9:27 AM

Frelick was in considerable pain, though he was able to walk off under his own power with a bit of a limp, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Brewers should provide an update on his status soon. It's a tough development after he was finally able to return to action in recent. days after missing eight weeks following surgery on his left thumb.

Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Eric Lauer was placed on the temporary inactive list this week while “working through some additional work on his health.”

Jun 23   9:27 AM

Lauer landed on the injured list a month ago with a left shoulder impingement and made a pair of rehab starts before the Brewers activated him and optioned him to Triple-A on June 14. The southpaw hasn't pitched then and is currently seeking additional information on his situation. The Brewers should provide an update in the coming days.

Drew Waters went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, three RBI, and a stolen base in Kansas City's 6-5 win against the Rays.

Jun 22   10:46 PM

Waters gave the Royals the lead in the seventh with his homer, a 386-foot shot off Robert Stephenson, then tied the game in the eighth with a single that chased Samad Taylor home. The outfielder is hitting just .188/.257/.297 since being activated, but the tools are there for him to be a stellar fantasy contributor if he can hit. So far, he hasn't.

X-rays came back negative on Luke Raley's right hand.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

Raley was hit by a pitch on the right hand during the early stages of Thursday's contest against the Royals, but he managed to remain in for the duration of game. The positive news is that he didn't suffer any fractures, but he's still dealing with some soreness and will undergo some additional imaging. There should be a full update on his status ahead of Friday's game.

Domingo Germán was shelled by the Mariners on Thursday, allowing eight earned runs and giving up four homers in 3 1/3 innings.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

The Mariners immediately jumped all over Germán, with five straight batters reaching after a Jarred Kelenic strikeout. The biggest blow in the four-run first was a bases-loaded double by Eugenio Suarez. In the second inning, he came back out and somehow gave up a homer to Kolten Wong, then another to Ty France. There were more. Germán's ERA has bumped up to 5.10 and he's been torched in back-to-back starts. If Germán stays in the rotation, he will get a start against the Athletics next week.

Bryan Woo pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing two hits and three walks.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

The starter did not allow a hit through his first five innings, generating many ground balls and a lot of soft contact. Gleyber Torres got New York's first hit with one out in the sixth and an Anthony Rizzo single off the top of the wall in right field chased Woo after 93 pitches. Since getting lit up in his first start by the Rangers, Woo has not allowed more than two runs in any of his starts and lowered his ERA to 5.09. Woo will get a streamable start against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a two-run homer in New York's loss to the Mariners on Thursday.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

With his scoreless inning pitched in the ninth, Kiner-Falefa pulled off the rare Ohtani feat of positives in both sections of the box score. Kiner-Falefa is somehow hitting .272/.314/.481 in his last 30 games, but only has 81 at-bats over that timespan.

Eugenio Suárez went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI in Seattle's 10-2 win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

He doubled in a pair of runs in the first inning and was only successfully retired by Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Suárez also walked twice. He's been a bit of a fantasy bust this year with just seven homers and a .218/.315/.335 line, though Suárez is still on pace to come near last year's RBI total of 87.

Teoscar Hernández went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Seattle's 10-2 win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

Hernández smashed a Domingo German fastball 437 feet to dead center, extending an already-robust Mariners lead. He added another run scored and another RBI in addition to the solo shot. While the Yankees held him down in the first two games of the series, Hernández is now hitting .327/.403/.636 in his last 15 games and has been parked in the cleanup spot for the majority of the month. On the season he's got a .254/.299/.443 line with 13 homers and 41 RBIs.

Rockies OF prospect Zac Even underwent season-ending left hand surgery on Thursday evening.

Jun 22   10:30 PM

Veen landed on the injured list last month with left wrist inflammation and wound up requiring a procedure a few weeks later to address ligament damage in his hand. He's expected to be sidelined from baseball activities until December. The 21-year-old top prospect wound up playing just 46 games this year for Double-A Hartford and the lost development time pushes his likely arrival back into the later stages of the 2024 campaign.

Giants acquired OF Dalton Guthrie from the Phillies for cash considerations.

Jun 22   9:53 PM

Guthrie provides the Giants with some extra outfield depth moving forward. The 27-year-old was designated for assignment earlier this week by the Phillies after batting .167 (4-for-24) across 23 games this season in the big leagues.

Austin Cox pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings as a bulk reliever against the Rays on Thursday, allowing two hits and a walk.

Jun 22   9:53 PM

He struck out four. Cox took over with a man on in the second inning and allowed only a single walk his first time through the order, though MJ Melendez did have an error in right field to prolong the second. The Rays strung two hits together in Cox's last inning, but Yandy Diaz stumbled on his way to third and was tagged out. Cox generated 12 whiffs on 28 swings, a stellar 43% rate, and has not allowed a run in his first 12 1/3 innings in the majors.

Scott Barlow closed out his ninth save of the season with a scoreless inning against Tampa on Thursday.

Jun 22   9:53 PM

Barlow retired Yandy Diaz on a replay challenge tag-out at first to start the inning, then struck out Randy Arozarena and Isaac Paredes after Luke Raley reached. After giving up three runs in two games earlier in the month, he's reeled off three saves in a row without allowing a run. His ERA dropped to 3.90.

Randy Arozarena went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI against the Royals on Thursday in a loss.

Jun 22   9:53 PM

Arozarena singled in a run in the first, and singled in two more in a three-run seventh that got the Rays a brief two-run lead. Arozarena is hitting .347/.492/.571 in his last 15 games with a .298/.412/.500 season line. The stolen-base attempts have plummeted a bit from his 44 last year -- he only has nine successful attempts so far -- but otherwise he's been exactly what you hoped for in fantasy.

Drew Waters went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, 3 RBI, and a stolen base in Kansas City's 6-5 win against the Rays.

Jun 22   9:53 PM

Waters gave the Royals the lead in the seventh with his homer, a 386-foot shot off Robert Stephenson, then tied the game in the eighth with a single that chased Samad Taylor home. The outfielder is hitting just .188/.257/.297 since being activated, but the tools are there for him to be a stellar fantasy contributor if he can hit. So far, he hasn't.

Mitch Keller threw seven innings against the Marlins on Thursday, allowing just five hits and a run in a no-decision.

Jun 22   9:09 PM

Garrett Cooper hit a one-out double against Keller in the second and scored on a sacrifice fly, but Keller allowed only three other singles through six innings and worked around a leadoff hit in the seventh. Keller has now alternated one-run allowed outings with blowups, and his ERA has dropped to 3.45. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh's bullpen imploded and cost him a win in this one. Keller will have an uphill climb for a win against a red-hot Blake Snell next Wednesday.

A.J. Puk came on to protect a two-run lead against the Pirates on Thursday and picked up his 10th save of the season.

Jun 22   9:09 PM

Puk retired three of four batters, with Rodolfo Castro reaching on an error. Since returning from IL, Puk has allowed just one unearned run in seven outings while striking out eight. He's settled right back into Miami's closer role.

Garrett Cooper went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in Miami's 6-4 win over the Pirates on Thursday.

Jun 22   9:09 PM

Cooper hit his go-ahead blast off a Carmen Mlodzinski four-seamer, sending it out 413 feet to right-center. To be blunt, Cooper needed this badly. He's hitting just .238/.272/.417 this year with nine homers and should not be on any fantasy rosters outside of the deepest leagues at the moment.
