Tigers signed Venezuelan SS Javier Osorio.

The 16-year-old shortstop is the big prize for the Tigers in the international free agent market, ranking as the 13th best prospect available by MLB Pipeline. Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com adds that Osorio will receive a $2.2 million signing bonus. Osorio has advanced bat speed and control and is expected to stick at the shortstop position.


Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Mets are hiring Glenn Sherlock to be their bench coach.

Sherlock spent the 2020 season as a coach with the Pirates. He has a strong working relationship with new Mets manager Buck Showalter, having worked together with both the Yankees and Diamondbacks during Showalter’s tenure. He also previously coached with the Mets from 2017 - 2019.


Jon Harris has signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Monarchs of the American Association of Professional Baseball.

Harris is a former first-round pick out of Missouri State who struggled to stay healthy and was moved to the bullpen by the Blue Jays in 2019. The right-hander will spend the year with the independent team and look to revitalize his career. 


The Brewers have named Jim Henderson as bullpen coach and Matt Erickson as infield and assistant hitting coach.

In addition, Daniel Vega has been added as assistant strength and conditioning specialist. Henderson, who previously pitched for the Brewers, most recently served as the pitching coach for the team's Triple-A affiliate. He'll replace Steve Karsay, who resigned last month to spend more time with his family. Meanwhile, Erickson joins the major league coaching staff after a lengthy run as the Class A Wisconsin manager. 


Dylan Cease has hired Boras Corporation as his new representation.

Cease was previously represented by ACES. The 26-year-old made major strides this past season (3.91 ERA, 12.3 K/9) and is on track to qualify for arbitration for the first time next winter, so he's starting to plan ahead. 


Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports that the Mariners have agreed to a $2.5 million deal with Cuban OF Lazaro Montes.

Montes, the eighth-ranked international prospect in the signing class, according to MLB Pipeline, is a massive outfielder with bushels of raw power and athleticism, which could make him an impact fantasy contributor in a few years. The 17-year-old projects as a power-hitting corner outfielder at the highest level in Seattle.


Phillies signed Venezuelan SS William Bergolla Jr.

The deal is official. Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com adds that Bergolla Jr. will receive a $2.2 million signing bonus. The 17-year-old son of former major-league infielder William Bergolla Sr., is the fourth-ranked international prospect in the signing class, according to MLB Pipeline. He's expected to remain at shortstop long-term and is worth monitoring for fantasy managers in keeper and dynasty league formats.


Orioles signed Cuban INF César Prieto.

No word on the exact financial terms of the agreement, but the Orioles were considered the favorites to ink Prieto for roughly $750,000 at the outset of the international signing period. The 22-year-old middle infielder defected from the Cuban national team at an Olympic qualifying tournament last May and has a chance to move quickly though the rebuilding Orioles' minor-league system.


Rockies signed Cuban SS Dyan Jorge.

Jorge, the 15th-ranked international prospect, per MLB Pipeline, winds up receiving one of the largest bonuses of the entire signing class. The 18-year-old shortstop, originally from Panama, is one of the oldest and most experienced prospects of his signing class. He's certainly worth monitoring from a fantasy perspective, especially if he winds up calling Coors Field home in a few years.

Giants signed Bahamian SS Ryan Reckley.

According to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe, Anibal Sanchez is considering returning for the 2022 season.

The 37-year-old right-hander held several showcases for interested teams last spring training, but wasn't able to find a deal to his liking and wound up sitting out the entire 2022 season. It doesn't sound like he's quite ready to retire though. Sanchez registered a gruesome 6.62 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 53 frames with the Nationals during the truncated 2020 season.

While he's currently able to handle all three outfield positions with ease, most scouts believe that he'll eventually end up in a corner. Hernandez has an advanced approach at the plate and the left-handed hitter has already shown the ability to hit southpaws.
