White Sox recalled RHP Nick Padilla from Triple-A Charlotte.

Jun 19   4:09 PM

With Lance Lynn landing on the bereavement leave list on Monday, Padilla will have the opportunity to function as a fresh arm out of the White Sox' bullpen for a couple of days. The 26-year-oild hurler has allowed two runs in his two innings of work with the big league club so far this season.

Mariners re-signed RHP Ryder Ryan to a minor league contract.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Ryan opted out of his minor league pact with the Mariners earlier this month, but wound up choosing to return to Seattle on a new deal. The 27-year-old righty represents organizational pitching depth at this stage of his career.

Phillies released RHP Louis Head.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Head signed a minor league contract with the Phillies back in January and wound up being released after making just 11 relief appearances this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 33-year-old righty made 28 appearances last year in the majors between the Orioles and Marlins.

Phillies released INF Vimael Machín.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Machín signed a minor league contract with the Phillies in January and didn't end up making it to the majors in Philadelphia. The 29-year-old infielder has been cut loose after 52 games this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He got into a career-high 73 games last year for the Athletics.

Mets optioned RHP John Curtiss to Triple-A Syracuse.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Curtiss has posted a respectable 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 11/6 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings (13 appearances) this season in the majors. The 30-year-old righty, who is in his first season back after Tommy John surgery, should be back in New York in a few weeks.

Mets selected the contract of RHP Grant Hartwig from Triple-A Syracuse.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Hartwig gets his first call up to the majors after compiling a respectable 4.21 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 35/15 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings (21 appearances) this season for Triple-A Syracuse. The 25-year-old righty will be making his big league debut when he gets into a game.

Rockies placed SS Ezequiel Tovar on the paternity leave list.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Tovar came out of Sunday's series finale, ironically on Father's Day, against the Braves after his wife went into labor. He'll likely be away from the club for at least a few days. It'll be Connor Kaiser coming up to take his spot on the Rockies' active roster.

Rockies selected the contract of SS Connor Kaiser from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Jun 19   3:50 PM

Kaiser gets his first promotion to the majors with Ezequiel Tovar landing on the paternity leave list ahead of Monday's game against the Reds. The 26-year-old shortstop has hit .278/.376/.506 with seven homers and six steals across 205 plate appearances this season for Triple-A Albuquerque.

Pirates designated INF/OF Mark Mathias for assignment.

Jun 19   3:24 PM

Mathias might wind up being the answer to a trivia question someday if catcher Henry Davis winds up being the central component of a contending roster in Pittsburgh. The versatile 28-year-old has been ejected from the Pirates' 40-man roster to make room for their top prospect to ascend to the majors ahead of Monday's series opener against the Cubs.

Stuart Fairchild (neck) has returned to the Reds' lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

Jun 19   3:24 PM

Fairchild rejoins Cincinnati's lineup for Monday's contest against the Rockies after missing three consecutive contests due to neck tightness. The 27-year-old gets the nod in center field on Monday night with TJ Friedl receiving the night off.

Jake Fraley is not in the Reds' lineup for Monday's series opener against the Rockies.

Jun 19   3:24 PM

Fraley will open Monday's contest on the bench with lefty Austin Gomber toeing the rubber for Colorado. It'll be Spencer Steer moving to left field and Nick Senzel in right field with Joey Votto back at first base on Monday for his season debut.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Monday that Packy Naughton (forearm) will undergo surgery next week.

Jun 19   2:45 PM

No word yet on the exact type of surgical procedure or how long Naughton will be sidelined, but there's a strong possibility he's done for the year. He was shut down earlier this month after experiencing renewed left forearm discomfort during his minor league rehab appearance.

Royals released C Jakson Reetz.

Jun 19   2:29 PM

Reetz re-signed with the Royals last December and wound up being released after batting .274/.439/.526 with four homers and one stolen base across 106 plate appearances in 27 games this season for Triple-A Omaha. The 27-year-old backstop last appeared in the majors during the 2021 campaign when he got into two contests for the Nationals.

Phillies released RHP Jon Duplantier.

Jun 19   2:29 PM

Duplantier made just three starts this season in the Phillies' minor league system after signing a minor league contract back in January. The 28-year-old former top prospect hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2021 campaign and might be running out of chances.

Reds released RHP Tayron Guerrero.

Jun 19   2:29 PM

Guerrero signed a minor league contract back in March and winds up heading back to the free agent waters after posting an inflated 11.51 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and 20/22 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (20 appearances) for Triple-A Louisville. The 32-year-old righty hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2019 campaign.

Royce Lewis remains absent from the Twins' lineup for Monday's series opener against the Red Sox.

Jun 19   2:06 PM

It's a bit perplexing that Lewis is sitting out for the second consecutive game on Monday evening, but there haven't been any reports that he's dealing with anything injury-related, so we're left to assume that his absence is merely for workload management reasons. It'll be Kyle Farmer at third base on Monday night in his place.

Michael A. Taylor (head) is not in the Twins' lineup for Monday's series opener against the Red Sox.

Jun 19   2:06 PM

No surprise here after Taylor was hit by a pitch on the back of the head during Sunday's showdown against the Tigers. He never lost consciousness and was able to walk off the field under his own power. No word yet whether he'll wind up in concussion protocol, but he's at least going to sit out Monday's game. It should be viewed as a positive sign that he hasn't been put on the injured list. He's day-to-day for the moment.

Phillies designated OF Dalton Guthrie for assignment.

Jun 19   1:50 PM

Guthrie has four hits in 24 at-bats this season over 23 games in the majors and has been removed from Philadelphia's 40-man roster with Darick Hall returning from the 60-day injured list. He figures to go unclaimed on waivers and remain at Triple-A Lehigh Valley as extra outfield depth.

Phillies activated 1B Darick Hall from the 10-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Jun 19   1:50 PM

The Phillies are going to continue rolling with the combination of Alec Bohm, Kody Clemens, and possibly even Bryce Harper at some point, at the cold corner. Hall has been out since undergoing mid-April surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. He could wind up getting another shot in Philadelphia at some point this summer.

Cardinals optioned 1B Luken Baker to Triple-A Memphis.

Jun 19   1:02 PM

Baker went 4-for-14 with five strikeouts across four games in his brief stint with the Cardinals. The 26-year-old doesn't have much left to prove in the minors and might make sense as a potential trade chip in the future if a path to regular at-bats never materializes in St. Louis.
