Camilo Doval tossed a clean ninth inning on Friday to secure the save against the Diamondbacks.

Jun 24   1:08 AM

Doval took the mound in the ninth with a three-run lead over the Diamondbacks. He got all three batters to ground out on 11 pitches, locking down his 21st save. The 25-year-old right-hander has been incredible, posting a 1.82 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 48/15 K/BB across 34 2/3 innings.

Evan Longoria went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk on Friday against the Giants.

Jun 24   1:08 AM

Longoria brought the first run of the game home for the Diamondbacks with a solo homer off Logan Webb in the second inning. The 37-year-old veteran has shown he can still hit for power, blasting ten homers across 128 plate appearances while hitting .239/.289/.556.

Brusdar Graterol tossed a scoreless inning on Friday to earn the save against the Astros.

Jun 24   12:52 AM

After tossing two innings as the opener on Wednesday, Graterol was called on to close it out with a two-run lead against the Astros on Friday. He induced three groundouts, shutting the door on Houston on just three pitches. It was the fourth save of the season for the 24-year-old right-hander. He'll likely remain in the mix for an occasional ninth-inning chance, but Evan Phillips remains the favorite to lead the team in saves.

Kyle Tucker went 1-for-4 with a home run on Friday against the Dodgers.

Jun 24   12:52 AM

Tucker took Emmet Sheehan deep for a solo shot in the fourth inning. It was one of only two runs the Astros could score in the game. The 26-year-old outfielder is enjoying a solid season, hitting .273/.348/.442 with ten homers, 42 RBI, and 14 steals across 309 plate appearances.

Zach Davies allowed six runs over four innings on Friday in a loss against the Giants.

Jun 24   12:52 AM

Davies worked around a hit and two walks through the first two innings before giving up three runs in the third on a walk, single, and two doubles. He allowed a run in while the first three batters reached base to start the fifth, and that would be it for Davies. Two more runs would come in after his exit. The 30-year-old right-hander will take an abysmal 7.82 ERA, 1.82 WHIP, and a 30/18 K/BB across 35 2/3 innings into a matchup against the Rays in Arizona next week.

Patrick Corbin surrendered seven runs over five innings on Friday in a loss against the Padres.

Jun 24   12:28 AM

Corbin served up a solo homer to Ha-Seong Kim to lead off the first inning. It looked like he would have a solid outing after all as he settled in for three scoreless innings. The Padres would turn that around quickly, putting up six runs on Corbin in the fifth, capped off by a three-run homer by Xander Bogaerts. The 33-year-old southpaw will carry a 5.32 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and a 57/29 K/BB across 89 2/3 innings into a start against the Mariners in Seattle on Wednesday.

Brandon Marsh went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Mets on Friday.

Jun 24   12:28 AM

It's not as encouraging as it sounds. One of the hits was a popup to shallow left that both Francisco Lindor and Tommy Pham thought the other guy was going to catch. The double was a 64-mph grounder down the left field line. Still, Marsh will certainly take it. He was hitting .223/.307/.277 over his previous 42 games.

Kodai Senga yielded four runs -- two earned -- in 5 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Phillies.

Jun 24   12:28 AM

All of the runs should have been unearned, but Brandon Marsh was credited with a single in the two-run sixth on a popup to left that neither Tommy Pham nor Francisco Lindor decided to catch. Senga deserved better in an outing in which he allowed just three hard-hit balls and struck out six.

Taijuan Walker defeated his former team by allowing one run in six innings Friday in the Phillies' 5-1 win over the Mets.

Jun 24   12:28 AM

A Brandon Nimmo homer was the only damage as Walker struck out five and walked just one. He's won four straight starts to move to 8-3 with a 4.10 ERA. He'll likely make his next start Thursday against the Cubs.

Ha-Seong Kim went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI on Friday against the Nationals.

Jun 24   12:28 AM

Kim put the Padres on the board early with a solo blast off Patrick Corbin the lead off the first inning. He knocked in two more runs with a base hit in the fifth for his third RBI. Kim was seeing the ball well all evening, with four hard-hit batted balls. The 27-year-old infielder is hitting .254/.344/.390 with seven homers, 25 RBI, and 13 steals across 265 plate appearances.

J.P France allowed three runs over six innings with four strikeouts on Friday in a loss against the Dodgers.

Jun 24   12:28 AM

France started his night giving up a solo homer to Mookie Betts to lead off the first inning. After loading the bases in the second, Betts would drive in another run on a sacrifice fly. A single and a double would bring in another run for the Dodgers in the fourth. France would go six innings on the night, posting a quality start while striking out four batters. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.54 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 42/18 K/BB across 53 1/3 innings into a start against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Thursday.

Clarke Schmidt allowed only an unearned run over 5 1/3 innings Friday against the Rangers.

Jun 24   12:11 AM

The Yankees appear to be capped at two runs in Schmidt starts. They've lost each of his last six outings, even though he's allowed a total of eight runs over 32 innings in those games. He's not working deep into games, but he's really turned things around nicely after posting a 6.00 ERA over his first 10 starts.

Dane Dunning was charged with two runs in seven-plus innings Friday in a no-decision against the Yankees.

Jun 24   12:11 AM

It was one run through seven, but Bruce Bochy decided to press his luck. Dunning went on to give up a pair of singles before being pulled in the eighth. Fortunately, only one of the runners scored, tying the game, and the Rangers went on to win in 10. It was not only Dunning's first time pitching into the eighth this season, but it was his first time pitching into the seventh. He remains 6-1 with a 2.76 ERA.

Adolis García hit a two-run homer off Michael King in the top of the 10th to lead the Rangers past the Yankees 4-2 on Friday.

Jun 24   12:11 AM

García nearly had a two-run homer in the fifth -- his 399-foot fly would have left the yard in 22 parks, according to Statcast -- but it was an out in Yankee Stadium. He hit one 374 feet to a better spot down the left field line in the 10th to help the Rangers move to 47-28 on the season. After a late May-early June drought, he's hit two homers in three games. He totaled one in his previous 28 games.

Will Smith pitched a perfect 10th inning against the Yankees for his 14th save Friday.

Jun 24   12:11 AM

Smith was working with a two-run cushion, so he could have allowed the automatic runner to score and still notched the save. Instead, he simply retired all three batters he faced. He's given up runs in just four of 29 appearances this season.

Adam Duvall struck out all four times up against the White Sox on Friday.

Jun 23   11:55 PM

Duvall is just 6-for-41 with one homer, three RBI and 18 strikeouts in 47 plate appearances since returning from a broken wrist. He got off to that fantastic start before getting hurt, but he was never going to be that player for long. It seems like the Red Sox should be using an improved Jarren Duran over him against right-handers.

Rafael Devers hit a two-run homer Friday in the win over the White Sox.

Jun 23   11:55 PM

Devers has a thoroughly mediocre line since a strong first two weeks, but he's made his hits count; for the season, his OPS is about 300 points higher with runners on and 400 points higher with RISP than it is with the bases empty. It's why he's tied for the major league lead with 60 RBI.

Lucas Giolito fanned 10 while allowing three runs -- one earned -- in six innings Friday against the Red Sox.

Jun 23   11:55 PM

Giolito looked terrific tonight, showing some of his best velocity of the year and generating 17 missed swings, including 11 on the 37 sliders he threw. It's too bad his defense wasn't up to the task. The White Sox ended up losing 3-1 tonight despite getting 17 strikeouts from their pitchers and outhitting Boston 8-4.

Brayan Bello pitched one-run ball for 6 2/3 innings in defeating the White Sox on Friday.

Jun 23   11:55 PM

Working on four days' rest for just the second time this season, Bello had a little less velocity than usual tonight, though it didn't seem to matter. He's allowed a total of four runs in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 3.97 to 3.27. He'll be worth playing in mixed leagues against the Marlins next week.

Mike Trout went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk on Friday against the Rockies.

Jun 23   11:55 PM

Trout drew a walk in the third inning, then followed Shohei Ohtani with a homer in the fifth, going back-to-back off Kyle Freeland. It was the 16th of the season for the 31-year-old slugger. He ends the day hitting .250/.358/.474 across 321 plate appearances.
